The Compliance division’s mission is to support the development of HiPay’s business in accordance with the legislation.

Essential for the company to operate, the members of the Compliance division are in permanent contact with the different internal divisions, to ensure that the risks generated by the activity are effectively managed and covered.

They also have a role to play in terms of keeping Top Management informed and advising them about managing non-compliance, operational and financial risks, and have a responsibility to keep all HiPay employees informed about the current regulations and any changes thereto.

Experts in legislation and risk management, they are the preferred points of contact for regulators and therefore ensure that regulatory reports are produced and transmitted correctly.

Advocates of the risk-based approach, they participate in the projects that most impact HiPay and define, in partnership with the different divisions, the hedging measures necessary for the controlled development of HiPay’s activities.

Who are you?

My name is Matthieu and I work in Levallois.

 

When did you join HiPay? What is your role and what do you do at HiPay?

I joined HiPay in July 2018 as a Compliance Officer. My role is to support the development of HiPay’s activity in accordance with French and European regulations. In contact with all HiPay departments, I analyse the processes so as to identify and cover the various risks inherent in the activity. I am the main point of contact for the authorities. I inform and regularly advise the senior management on managing non-compliance, operational and financial risks, etc.

 

What are the main tasks and challenges of your job at HiPay?

My main duties are:

  • Management of non-compliance risks, for example with regard to the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism;
  • Production and updating of risk mapping;
  • Relations with authorities (regulatory reporting, ACPR, Tracfin, etc.);
  • Management of continuous monitoring and periodic inspection;
  • Coordination of supervisory committees (risk committee, internal control, NAP, etc.);
  • Employee training and support.

 

Which product do you work on?

I mainly work on the Enterprise product, i.e. the customer base of HiPay SAS. It is a payment platform that offers payment services to merchants both for their online transactions and for proximity payments. The end users, our merchants’ customers, can therefore pay for their purchases using a variety of payment methods and explore new buying journeys.

 

What tools do you use in your day-to-day work?

I work with internal tools (BOEnterprise, Sentinel, Intelligence, BI) and external service providers (LexisNexis, EverCompliant, Credit Safe, CTMS).

 

What expertise and skills are essential for doing what you do?

You need to have good knowledge of local regulations (CMF, regulator recommendation, FATF), listen to employees, have an analytical mind that is able to summarise information, and also have a good command of office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

 

How would you define the culture at HiPay?

I would describe the HiPay culture as modern in its managerial and operational approach. All employees are accessible (managers, senior management, operations), and this facilitates discussion and optimises HiPay’s development.

 

Why did you choose HiPay?

After working at a large French banking group, I felt I needed to develop my skills in a human-focused organisation. In my job interviews, I was attracted by the growing development of fintechs. The diversity of the tasks and the technological and digital aspects persuaded me to join HiPay.

 

What type of profile do you think a person would need to have, to fit in at HiPay?

To fit in at HiPay, I think you need to be independent, communicative and ready to roll up your sleeves and get out of your comfort zone.

 

What does your job at HiPay give you?

Professionally, HiPay gives me great diversity in my assignments and allows me to grow and expand my skills quickly. This also encourages me to manage a large amount of work and constantly evolve.

 

Any advice for candidates wanting to join us?
